The 2020 UAMS Intensive Workshop on Healthcare Ethics & Humanities (May 28 & 29, 2020) will bring together an interdisciplinary group of scholars to share research and experiences focused on the challenging phenomenon of moral distress.

The workshop targets professionals interested in ethical healthcare practice, and especially encourages members of healthcare ethics committees to attend.  Sessions include our keynote speaker and international expert on addressing moral distress, Elizabeth Epstein, Ph.D., RN, (hear a podcast with Dr. Epstein talking about moral distress), as well as submitted papers and posters.  All participants will have the opportunity to work in small group sessions on consultation as well as policy/education considerations.  There will also be a clinical simulation experience in our renowned UAMS Simulation Center.  In order to encourage interaction, the workshop is designed for only a limited number of participants (first come, first serve).

We have opened the Call for Papers, and registration will open in January of 2020.  However, if you want more information right now about this 2-day, all-day, intensive workshop, or if you already want to reserve your spot, feel free to send an email to
