The Department of Medical Humanities and Bioethics is actively involved in medical education at all levels, both within the college of medicine and in the state at large through
- A course in Medical Ethics required of medical students
- Elective seminars in art, law, literature, religion, disease and society, death and dying and other humanities disciplines
- A course in Ethics for Residents required of clinical housestaff
- An Intensive Workshop in Healthcare Ethics for practicing physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains and other professionals
- Continuing education courses for nurses, social workers and other health professionals through their own professional organizations
- Monthly ethics programs at both UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital
- Programs presented to professional staff at most Arkansas hospitals
